Have an idea for a great collaboration that will advance your NIGMS-funded research project? If your current award has active funding through at least November 30, 2012, you may be eligible to jump-start your idea with an administrative supplement for collaborative science. The next submission deadline is May 15, 2011.

I have to question the wisdom of these Collaborative Supplements when the current budget situation suggests that new R01 grants face increasingly bleak chances for funding. Especially for those whose grant applications may just miss the funding payline, this really looks like a case of ‘the rich get richer.’ That the Supplement applications are not peer-reviewed only enforces this perception.
I totally agree with previous comment. These supplements don’t make any sense now but a disservice to the community struggling for fair funding.
