We’re seeking a highly qualified scientist to serve as Branch Chief for our Division of Biophysics, Biomedical Technology, and Computational Biosciences (BBCB). Applicants should have interest and experience in the scientific areas managed by the Biomedical Technology Branch. Position responsibilities include scientific and administrative planning, management, and evaluation; optimization of Branch procedures; and overseeing of Branch program directors’ grant portfolio activities. The Branch Chief will also manage a research grant portfolio and work collaboratively with the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and Biophysics Branch Chiefs and the BBCB Division Director.
The BBCB Division supports 1) the development and application of biophysical and computational methods and tools to improve our understanding of basic biology; 2) physical and theoretical methodologies, bioinformatics tools, and sophisticated computational approaches to lay a foundation for advances in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention; and 3) the creation of innovative tools and new technologies for the study of macromolecular, cellular, and organelle processes and function. The Biomedical Technology Branch supports research to discover, create, and develop technologies to enable discoveries in biomedical research.
Candidates should have training and expertise in any area of research that the Biomedical Technology Branch supports. Experience as an NIH scientific administrator is a plus, and outstanding written and oral communication skills are required. Candidates should have an interest in supervising and mentoring a team of program directors and serving as a leader within the Branch, the Division, and the Institute.
