UPDATE: The video and slides [PDF] from this webinar are now available.

We’re pleased to announce that the Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) funding opportunity announcement (FOA) has been reissued (PAR-22-220). PREP’s goal is to develop a diverse pool of well-trained postbaccalaureates who transition into and complete rigorous biomedical, research-focused doctoral degree programs (e.g., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) in biomedical fields relevant to the NIGMS mission

We’re hosting a webinar to discuss the key features of this FOA and to answer your questions:

Friday, December 9, 1:00-2:30 p.m. ET
Zoom Meeting link
Meeting ID: 161 199 4922
Passcode: 153463
Join by phone: 669-254-5252 (San Jose) or 646-828-7666 (New York)

During the webinar, we’ll provide a broad overview of the program and share our expectations for applications and the required data tables for the January 31, 2023, receipt date. We’ll also highlight notable changes in the recent FOA, including:

  • Clarified expectations around intended institutional impact of PREP
  • Emphasized importance of providing a safe and inclusive environment
  • Updated principal investigator eligibility language regarding active biomedical investigators
  • Application types allowed (i.e., resubmissions are no longer allowed; however, if you aren’t successful in your first application, you’re always encouraged to reach out to a program officer and apply again)

You can send questions to us before the webinar or post them in the chat box during the event.

NIGMS Staff Participating in the December 9 Webinar:

  • Lameese Akacem, NIGMS Program Officer
  • Laurie Stepanek, NIGMS Program Officer
  • Justin Rosenzweig, NIGMS Grants Management Team Lead
  • Marc Rigas, NIGMS Scientific Review Officer

Participants requiring sign language interpretation and/or other reasonable accommodations should submit a request using our contact form at least 5 days prior to the webinar. Following the event, we’ll post the webinar video and slides on the PREP webpage, which contains other useful information about the program, including answers to frequently asked questions.

We look forward to talking to you about PREP.
