UPDATE: The MIRA office hour on December 12 has reached its capacity and registration is closed. For additional sessions, visit the Navigating NIGMS Grants webpage.

We’re hosting a virtual question-and-answer “office hour” on Thursday, December 12, for Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA) (R35) early stage investigator (ESI) applicants. This small group session is designed to help late-stage postdoctoral researchers and early career faculty plan their future applications. We’ll start with a brief presentation of key components of the ESI-MIRA application (research strategy, biosketch, budget, etc.) and spend the rest of the time in open discussion to answer your questions.

MIRA provides support for research in an investigator’s laboratory that falls within the NIGMS mission. The goal of MIRA is to increase the efficiency of NIGMS funding by providing investigators with greater stability and flexibility, thereby enhancing scientific productivity and the chances for important breakthroughs. The program also helps distribute funding more widely among the nation’s highly talented and promising investigators.

Upcoming ESI-MIRA application due dates: February 3, 2025; October 3, 2025; February 3, 2026

Office Hour Information:

Thursday, December 12, 1:00-2:00 p.m. ET
Registration is closed

Note this is a live meeting that won’t be recorded. Registration will close when we reach 50 participants to promote open discussion. The meeting can be captioned using the Zoom platform; however, participants requiring sign language interpretation and/or other reasonable accommodations should submit a request using our contact form at least 5 days prior to the event.

For more information, visit the MIRA webpage or contact Jason Chan. Details on other ESI-MIRA virtual office hours are available on our Navigating NIGMS Grants webpage.

  1. Thank you so much for this. Since registration is closed, would it be possible to access the recorded video of these office hours?
